Ph.D. Training Program
Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) is an internationally
renowned interdisciplinary research institution founded in 2002 by Dr. Akhilesh Pandey. IOB is a
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) recognized research center. IOB has obtained
several grants including Center of Excellence from key funding bodies including DBT/Wellcome
Trust India Alliance (Center for Rare Disease Diagnosis, Research, and Training), DBT, DST and
ICMR. IOB has a strong track-record in training interdisciplinary scientists through its Ph.D.
program with 63 students who have graduated, many of whom are current postdoctoral fellows,
staff or faculty in internationally renowned institutions. Over the last two decades, IOB has made
seminal contributions in the fields of bioinformatics, multi-Omics, systems biology and its
application to various basic and clinical research. The selected candidates will be enrolled for
their Ph.D. at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.
IOB is inviting applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a Project-based position. The
selected candidate will be working on the SERB funded project titled "Generation of induced
pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models of conotruncal heart defects (CTDs) to investigate the
disease-relevant molecular mechanisms using advanced proteomics and metabolomics
approaches".
Eligibility: Applicants must hold M.Sc./M.Tech in Biology or Life Sciences. Preference will be
given to the candidates with good wet lab experience in mammalian cell culture and basic
molecular biology techniques.
At the time of application, the candidate should have cleared a national-level examination and
procure a research fellowship (e.g. GATE/CSIR/UGC-NET, JRF exams conducted by
DBT/ICMR). Candidates shortlisted for an interview will be informed by email.
The project duration is for a period of three years, but since it is expected that the successful
applicant will enroll in a Ph.D. Program at MAHE, they will be paid until completion of their
